Global Access and its Implications: The Use of Mailing Lists by Systems Librarians
Proceedings of the ASIST Annual Meeting Volume 35, ISSN 0044-7870
Describes how systems librarian-related mailing lists are used by information professionals. Examination of 12 selected mailing lists and their geographic distribution reveals a great gap existing between developing and developed countries, with the United States in the dominant position. Knowledge background, technical limitations, and language barriers that may hinder information seeking/sharing are explored. (Author/AEF)
