Abstract

A computerized scenario-based tutorial was developed to facilitate students in learning concepts of designing a research study. Sixty college students participated in the pilot study. The students were randomly assigned into three groups in which they received different instructions -- text-reading, online-reading, and REsearchMentor(RM). A pretest and a posttest were given to assess their knowledge gain and attitude change. The results showed no significant differences among the groups for both the knowledge gain and the attitude change. The RM group, nonetheless, scored higher on both areas. The perceptions towards the REsearchMentor were also positive.
