This brief paper will describe the development, validation, and pilot testing of a self-assessment measure of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) designed for use with middle and secondary science educators. The proposed conference presentation will focus on the results of an in-progress research study to adapt the Survey of Preservice Teachers’ Knowledge of Teaching and Technology(Schmidt, et al., 2009) that was originally designed for use with preservice teachers in elementary and early childhood education programs. Due to the substantial differences in the content knowledge required of preservice science educators, a project is underway to develop and test an adapted version of the survey that may serve as a complementary instrument to the original survey for use in an additional area of preservice teacher preparation. The final conference paper and presentation will describe the results of a content validity review and analysis of data from a pilot test of the survey instrument.
