Abstract

Reading is an important component of learning. New technology offers the possibility of reading from an electronic device (e-reading). In a two-stage study we investigate e-reading. In the first part we examine reading processes in an experimental laboratory study. With the eye-tracking method we compared different e-book readers with a classic paper book and found significant effects in reading behavior. In the second part we will investigate teaching and learning with e-book readers in a field study. During a semester e-book readers will be integrated into lessons and learning environment.
