Abstract

In this paper we will expand the boundaries of video annotation in education by outlining the need for extended interaction in online video use, identifying the challenges faced by existing video annotation tools, and introducing VideoANT, a tool designed by the authors to create text-based annotations integrated within an online video timeline. We will also describe several features of the design and development of this solution, outline additional uses for which VideoAnt has been adapted, and initiate a discussion on the design, development, and research for future online video annotation projects.
