Abstract

In preparation for our academic program accreditation review, our college adopted a commercial online portfolio and electronic assessment system. For a variety of reasons, the adoption did not go as smoothly as we had hoped; over the course of the last few years, a plethora of issues have arisen, only some of which can be attributed to our choice of the product. Fortunately, through corrective strategies and creative solutions, we managed to overcome most of these challenges. With the intention of assisting other institutions who may be embarking down a similar path in preparation for their own accreditation visits, this presentation discusses and presents the expected and unanticipated problems we faced, as well as our approach and strategies to resolving them. In addition, we share our future considerations of effective web-based portfolio and electronic assessment systems for accreditation needs.
