Abstract

With this proposal, we focus on one aspect of collaboration and partnership, which is, the virtual communities of practice (COP) to support the pre-service teachers and mentors. We will demonstrate how the BEGIN virtual COP incorporates sound pedagogies and educational theories, and how it uses open source packages to establish a hub of communication and information for mentors and pre-service teachers. It’s our intention to share our experiences using the virtual COP and to seek feedback from the other conference participants. Through such exchange, we hope to improve our common effort in supporting, mentoring, and nurturing the future teachers.
