Abstract

Student teachers are dramatically frustrated by a perceived conflict between the teaching of literacy learned in teaching/learning methods courses or practices courses where they see in classroom and the reality of practicum. The purpose of this study is to discuss how to build bridges from school to work for student teachers. Bridges here mean to create an online forum, a conversation-friendly online community, for student teachers to seek help, express experiences, reflect on their observations/beliefs, aiming to continue to refine their practice and keep them connected to a larger community. Both qualitative (comparison content analysis) and quantitative (correlation analysis) tools will be used to investigate the expected outcomes. The expected outcomes are to minimizing the gap between principles and practice, in terms of developing the autonomy, enhancing the understanding of teaching identity, gaining benefits of cooperative learning, and developing each student’s own authenticity of teaching philosophies.
