Abstract

Traditionally, higher education has focussed on the acquisition of knowledge and emphasized the reproductive side of learning while generative and transformative aspects have attracted less attention. Against this background the EU funded project KP-Lab aims at developing theories, tools, and models of knowledge creation and innovative practice. Based on the knowledge-creation metaphor of learning and building on recent theories of collaborative and organizational learning KP-Lab project focuses on creating a collaborative learning environment to support knowledge creation in higher education and professional contexts. As a pedagogical partner the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria is involved in developing and evaluating pedagogical scenarios, methods and tools for higher education. Our research focus is on project-based learning, emphasizing boundary crossing collaboration, self-regulation, and modelling.
