Abstract

The case study explores preservice teachers' perceptions of Wikis, the collaboration process on Wikis, and the future uses of Wikis in teacher education programs and elementary school settings. Fifty-five preservice teachers from three classes contributed to the educational technology innovations Wiki site. The data was collected through the artifacts of reflections as well as the contribution logs, content analysis of the web pages, and the informal conversations with preservice teachers. The findings include the preservice teachers' (1) appreciation of collaboration features, visual representations, and the capability to contribute the project on individuals' schedules (2) concerns with the technical limitations of Wiki and collaboration issues as well as (3) strategies of integrating Wikis in the future teaching and learning environments.
