Abstract
Abstract: This paper describes a multi-modal technology project that researched the role of technology in teaching literature and preparing teachers. A middle school team, university students, and professors explored The Outsiders (S.E. Hinton) through high-tech, response-based curriculum integration activities to determine the impact on student learning and teacher development. Analysis reveals that incorporating music, video, and online research engage students, enhanced their literature study, and effectively linked curriculum integration. We also learned that middle school students are powerful learning partners in teacher preparation and that multi-modal technology provides a critical nexus for learning through multiple intelligences.
