Abstract

The purpose of this panel session is to discuss two newly formed projects that utilized internet-based videoconferencing and online conferencing in in special education teacher education. One project embeds a multi-university faculty and pre-teacher collaborative teaching model, while the other project focuses on the use of virtual classroom observations and interviews with practicing field-based personnel. Discussion topics for the panel include: the process of development, usefulness of the project tools, the use of videoconferencing over IP within the course structures, the multi-university collaborative process, establishing connections across multiple school settings, lessons learned for duplication at other institutions, and initial findings for both projects.
