Abstract

Along with the development of Web technology and mobile learning, more and more programs at higher education are delivered online, more and more courses are taught online. The common platform of online instruction in the United States includes Web CT, Blackboard and Canvas. Now more institutions have adopted Canvas. No matter how the platform is changed, an effective online instruction at large depends on an instructor’s understanding of the principals of instruction on online, his or her knowledge and skills of using Web technology, and more important, it depends on an instructor’s course designing and teaching strategies. TOPRACE model is an instructional model presenter has developed and practiced in online instruction. This poster is to introduce a practice of online instruction by using TOPRACE model, share the course taught with TOPACE model, discuss pros and cons of online instruction in general and analyze a lesson taught with TOPRACE model in particular.
