Abstract

The Seven Principles of Good Practice in undergraduate, while introduced over 30 years ago, are still valid today. However, we are currently in an age when student learners are vastly different than they were in the past. Over 95% of today’s youth are digital natives. As result of their upbringing and experiences with technology, digital natives have a particular learning style that differs from earlier generations of students. This paper discusses the relationship between the Seven Principles and the learning characteristics of digital natives and identifies cost effective technologies to help faculty adapt their teaching styles to suit digital natives while still adhering to the Seven Principles.
