Abstract

In this session we discuss the use of online mentoring with in-service teachers and describe an approach we use at Indiana University in an off-campus practicum in special education. We focus on such topics as (a) creating a context for mentoring, (b) establishing responsibilities for teachers and their mentors, (c) setting up online components and project teams and (d) defining the role of practicum instructors. We also present results of an evaluation of the approach by the teachers and their mentors.
