Abstract

With the growth of online courses and programs offered by higher education, are students given formal orientation opportunities? The authors engaged in a two-year study where they implemented an online orientation program for students in their faculty. The program was designed to develop student confidence and competence in using the technology and becoming familiar with online pedagogy. Using a reflective process the authors, who have a wealth of experience with online learning (e.g., student, designer, instructors, & administrator) share insights from their experiences with this online orientation initiative. They conclude the work with three implications for practice.
