Text Analysis of a Cloud-Based Educator Collaboration Tool

Using data gathered as part of a large scale program evaluation of professional learning in twenty-four districts researchers analyzed results of a text analysis using application programming interface (API). This follow-up study examines the content of documents, including meeting agendas, school professional learning plans and discussions held within a cloud-based system. A secondary goal of this study was to examine whether the content within this cloud-based system aligned with the goals of the professional learning plan as well as to determine whether, as program evaluators, this system is an effective method for gathering and analyzing data. The researchers found that the content of the documents do align with the goals of the professional learning plan as well as reveal additional unexpected information. Finally, the researchers determined that utilizing a cloud-based tool for data-gathering can be an effective way to monitor and measure the work within a large-scale project.
