Abstract

As schools and districts transition to offering online courses for K-12 learners, teacher educators must work to prepare teaching candidates for transitioning to a new teaching and learning environment. In this session, the presenter will model research-based practices for designing and implementing online learning experiences to prepare teaching candidates for online environments. The session will be presented in a blended format, providing participants with the opportunity to experience quality online learning themselves. Participants will actively participate in online learning experiences that model the research-based practices shared by the presenter and will have opportunities to reflect on how these practices can be applied to their own work. This is a blended session, with some learning taking place through modeling and discussion and some learning taking place online (individually & collaboratively) via 3D GameLab.
