Abstract

Collaboration is the preferred style of learning among children. As a result, there has been a lot of research and development to provide computer materials that are interactive and engaging. Unfortunately, reading scores in Mexico have consistently dropped, meaning either that materials are not being used or that the materials are ineffective. The objective of this work is to provide software applications that offer a collaborative environment to develop reading skills for elementary-level students based on global reading skills rather than on the traditional phonetic method used in Mexico for over a century.
