The Finnish government has encouraged universities of applied science to internationalize and offer programs globally. Interest in the Finnish educational system has considerably grown during the last ten years particularly because of PISA results. This has resulted in interest in the quality of education, innovative pedagogies and the educational technology used during the learning process.

Because of geographical proximity and historical relations, Russia is one of the potential countries for internationalization and commercialization of Finnish education. There is some evidence that one of the growing trends in Russian education today is e-learning. However, there is a lack of data about the e-learning situation within Russia. This paper attempts to evaluate these emerging trends and proposes the use of a survey to provide a more detailed insight into this emerging situation. It will then examine the possibilities open to Finnish education in Russia.
