Abstract

Abstract: Public school administrators are required to make numerous time intensive visits to evaluate all new, non-tenured teachers as these teachers seek approval to meet requirements for local tenure and state certification for teachers. These visits are a necessity for all beginning teachers as they progress to meet their quest of professional employment and tenure in their local education unit and state education agency. This project will record classroom teaching (teacher-student-teacher) then record the visit using a video camera and save the video to a hard drive. Now the video can be remotely viewed, assessed and evaluated. The evaluator will have a final video and text product with which to produce a synchronized text and video for evaluation and post observation permanent record to be shared by the evaluator and subject teacher. Utilizing readily available microcomputer hardware and software to conduct this experiment will be a focus of this project.
