A Model for an Online, Global, Constructionist Learning Environment: Robotics Around the World

Abstract: Robotics Around the World, a new online global course, was developed in response to Wichita State University's global initiative and the instructors' desire to expand a current robotics program to include global perspectives. The course models an online, global, constructionist learning environment, using LEGO® Mindstorms Robotics as the common denominator and tool for global exchange. The course was designed based on best practices of 1) online learning, 2) global education, and 3) constructionist teaching and learning. Instructors will share their model and the strategies used to build an online, global community of practice.
