Why webquests? A teacher's experience in educational technology

As a final project in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program through Empire State College, I developed a technology-rich curriculum of the Italian Renaissance. This included the creation of a web quest and virtual slideshow with accompanying curriculum for middle school students. The project goal involved designing an educational tool that made challenging curriculum appealing to middle-school students' interests in a format that respected their technological abilities. The reflective paper discusses: (1) the pedagogical rationale behind the design concept of the web quest; (2) form: experiences in researching, designing, creating, and publishing virtual curriculum; (3) content: discussion of the art and master artists of the High Renaissance in Italy.
