Abstract
This research project examines the effects of video analysis on strength performance. A sample of 48 was chosen from a population of 93 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II football athletes at one university. The sample was divided into groups based on athlete participation in weekly video analysis sessions during a training period. Athletes tested for strength and technique on the squat and power clean exercises at the beginning and end of the 8-week period. Two tailed t tests on the difference between means (p < .05) were used to analyze the data. Results indicated a statistically significant effect on training technique. No significant effect was shown on overall strength. The researcher concluded Division II football athletes were able to improve their technique on the squat and power clean by analyzing video of their performances. Their strength levels were not significantly affected by participation in video analysis.
