Abstract

Distance Learning - Enrichment (DL-E) is no longer an experimental novelty with a 50-50 chance of failure when the time for classroom-to-classroom connections arrive. As increased bandwidth has become available and affordable, and educational institutions are becoming fully wired at the university and K-12 levels, then the kinds of activities that have been proposed for up to three decades have suddenly become practical in just-in-time scenarios. This paper focuses on methods developed to assess participant perceptions of DL-E activities as one aspect of evaluating DL-E impact. New concepts and assessment tools are presented in the context of 30 years of experience in DL-E activities by the authors (Southworth, Flanigan, Knezek, 1981; Kingan, Flanigan, Knezek, Southworth, 1990; Southworth, Knezek, & Flanigan, 2003).
