Abstract
This paper is a report on the usage findings and extensions for the Opencast Matterhorn mobile frontend Matterhorn 2GO. The presented system brings fine-grained lecture recordings and fully searchable multimedia learning snippets created by Opencast Matterhorn to mobile learners worldwide. The system has been released for Android, iOS as well as Blackberry Playbook devices and can also be freely used on smart TVs. The paper presents a mobile usage data analysis for educational multimedia objects as well as an overview of today’s most popular student handheld devices. Daily usage and feedback reports by adopters have led to an application re-design towards a flexible mobile personal learning environment, which is also introduced and described.
