Abstract

It is our belief that for an online or web-enhanced course to truly be of benefit to students, a community has to be developed and the students have to believe they are part of the community and are taking an active role in that community. To this end a unique online interface was designed that could be implemented for any Course or community. Every time a participant accesses the website they are given the realization that they are part of a group. The participant is given ownership over information on the system and is given the oppurtunity to contribute to the course/community. The system includes a complete online grading program, database baqckend and several collaboration tools. It emphasizes ease of use for both participant and facilitator and is participant-centric.
