Abstract

Professionalism cannot be easily defined but is one of the most important attributes of a teacher. As a teacher begins or continues a career in education, his or her ideas, thoughts and pedagogies change. As a result, he or she will develop a new sense of knowledge and understanding. As a teacher’s development may change over time, education is also changing in areas such as curriculum, accountability, and overall professionalism. Technology may be one answer in supporting the teacher throughout his or her professional development. Therefore, as the demands in education continue to grow, technology could be used in creating and supporting optimal success to the profession as well as in the professional. This discussion is intended to highlight the overall possibilities that technology could make in developing positive shifts not only within the classroom but also within the teachers as professionals.
