Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the technology integration of the 8th grade Mathematics curricula of the two countries, Turkey and the United States of America. According to ISTE (2007) and NCATE (2002), students should be provided with enough opportunities of the use of technology in their classroom in order to enhance their learning. In this qualitative study, the authors analyze the contents of these two countries’ Math curricula of 8th grades in terms of proposing the use of technological equipment in the classroom. The Turkish 8th grade Math curriculum and United States 8th grade Math curriculum are used as the main data sources for the present study. The differences and similarities in terms of integrating technology into curriculum will be discussed in the part of this paper. This study is going to be a foundational study for a further research of how technological equipment is used in real classrooms of Turkey and the United States.
