Abstract

A promising alternative learning strategy to traditional content delivery utilizes mobile learning and Personal Mobile Devices (PMDs) as an engaging context in which teams of students create mobile app/games that demonstrate mastery of in-depth knowledge and real-world applications. Rather than using mobile technology as another way to simply deliver pre-made content to students perhaps we should re-think the traditional approach and use mobile technology as a platform for student learning by content creation. This paper concludes with a discussion of early trials of the approach with K-12 students.
