
Teaching Research Writing: A Multimedia Approach

Abstract
Multimedia integrates the sounds, images, and textures. It can motivate students to learn and write. To meet the needs of the 21st century, students in schools today will be able to take responsible of learning, cope with new technologies, and work cooperatively in a high-performance team environment (D’Ignazio, 1992). Pre-service teachers and in-service teachers are facing the challenge of training students for the 21st century. For improving teaching effectiveness, presenters have designed an instructional module for pre-service and in-service teachers to teach research writing with a multimedia approach. The instructional module consists of six phases, and is designed to be integrated in subject teaching units through out an academic year. In this paper, presenters will introduce the structure of the instructional module, discuss its potential effectiveness of teaching, and provide teachers with suggestions of implementation.
