Abstract

This paper describes the functions and operation of the University of South Alabama Online Learning Lab (OLL). The OLL is an organization that employs graduate masters and doctoral students from the field of Instructional Design. The main function of the OLL is faculty assistance with pedagogical and technical issues related to online learning. The OLL provides a series of 2-hour workshops (13 topics per semester), individual faculty training, 2 half-a-day workshops about pedagogical and technical issues with online teaching, short job aids on their website, research summaries on topics related to e-learning, authentic faculty videos explaining innovations they use in their teaching online.
