Abstract

This paper presents finding from several semesters of a project in which an American native speaker of English spoke “live” via Internet videoconference to Taiwanese EFL students. Qualitative and quantitative findings over several semesters show that students experienced improved motivation to study English. Factor analysis shows that the factor interaction skills plays a prominent in the students’ perceptions of their own ability. The paper summarizes qualitative findings and then offers seven key “lessons learned” giving other EFL instructors tested guidelines and directions for practical and effective intercultural collaboration with foreign professors to development of E-learning curriculum and teaching materials, and with guidelines and directions to implement on-line videoconferencing for classroom instruction.
