Abstract

Abstract: Online faculty burnout is quickly becoming a concern to college administrators at institutions with large numbers of courses and degrees online. Factors such as teaching loads, research requirements, profession development, years of employment, and service to the institution are sited as reasons for burnout. This paper examines burnout as it applies to faculty in higher education who teach online, and provides suggestions to address potential online faculty burnout for those who manage them.
