Abstract

This paper is an Interactive Qualitative analysis of the user experience in Second Life, an online Metaverse, in an undergraduate literature class. A focus group of eighteen students produced a systems model including ten affinities with one primary driver and one primary outcome. The results of this analysis indicate the importance of the use of socio-technical systems when deploying gaming in the classroom. This presentation will include a discussion of the affinities and share recommendations for implementing an online game such as Second Life in other institutions.
