Abstract

This symposium will feature selected topics from the International Handbook of Information Technology in Education – a work which will be composed of 80-100 chapters in 2 volumes when published by Springer in 2007. During the first hour of the symposium, section editors for topics related to information technology and teacher education will present papers that will serve as the foundations for introductory chapters for the Handbook. The second hour will begin with an explanation of the remaining framework of the Handbook by the IHITE lead editors, followed by discussion of the conceptual orientation of the Handbook (historical roots, world perspective, scope envisioned) by the project senior advisor.At least half of the 2nd hour will be reserved for dialog soliciting feedback from and interaction among the participants and audience.
