Abstract

How do preservice teachers view issues of online ethics? What knowledge do preservice teachers have of online ethics, including topics such as AUPs, copyright/fair use, and online privacy? What place does online ethics hold in teacher education programs? The presentation will outline the results of a study examining the attitudes and perceptions of preservice educators at one public university in the northwestern United States. Students' knowledge and understanding of copyright issues as they relate to AUPs, Internet Use, and ethical behavior will be discussed. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss methods of including online ethics in existing teacher education courses, including technology integration and methods courses. An overview of useful web sites will be offered as well.
