A preconference symposium conducted by the Project for the Longitudinal Analysis of New Information Technologies (PLANIT) was well attended by 47 participants from 18 nations at SITE 2000. This project has been carrying out longitudinal research based on common information technology instruments since 1995. Many participants attending SITE 2000 requested a follow-up symposium from PLANIT on the topic of trans-national trends, so the current submission is focused in this area. Two books of findings have been published by the group since the 2000 symposium (Morales, Knezek, Christensen, & Avila, 2000; 2001). A summary of their contents will lay the foundation for the four new papers presented.
