This article describes the key features of the LPII, a Visual Basic simulation that is designed to help preservice teachers gain insights in planning effective lessons for both motivated and unmotivated students. The tool's four-step decision-making sequence is outlined and the postparticipation debriefing phase is discussed. Field testing and initial research results are presented, and projected future applications are suggested.
