This paper describes an online collaboration between faculty at a southwestern teacher preparation program and middle school faculty in Siena Italy. The purpose of the collaboration was twofold; a) to teach the Italian middle school students how to use various multimedia technologies to gain an understanding of their home town, photojournalism, and communication, and b) to teach the pre-service how they might integrate technology into classroom instruction while engaging with non-English speaking students. Working in teams, the middle school students created eBooks that focused on social aspects of Siena, Italy. The teacher preparation students created eBooks that focused on their home town in the US. These were exchanged and students from both schools were able to review and comment on the various eBooks. This collaboration was supported through the integration of various technologies, including: a Google Sites and eBook authoring tools.
