Abstract

The asynchronous online learning environment offers many benefits and rewards: the logistical freedom of time and place, an atmosphere that promotes active participation, sharing, support, and reflection. Online discussion forums offer students opportunities to learn about the values, beliefs, and passions that make-up thought and spirit by focusing on that which can be seen through (versus with) the eye. The asynchronous online learning environment houses rich rewards and countless resources. It offers students opportunities to share in the teaching and learning process through research, publication, and co-facilitation. It is a place that has no walls, boundaries, or form. Its focus is thought and spirit and the ageless, limitless possibilities that new dimensions inspire.
