Abstract

In this paper we discuss the “Cloud Computing” architecture, cloud service models, layers and types of cloud and how can a cloud infrastructure be implemented for a distributed University campus, in particular for Southeastern Louisiana University (SELU). We put special emphasis on a Cloud based Storage service.

Cloud Computing can be defined as providing resources and capabilities of Information Technology (applications, storages, communication, infrastructure...) via services offered by cloud computing providers. Cloud storage is one of these services and we will try to point out which benefits could it offer for the case of SELU.

The paper also states the user's impressions of the current storage service that is being offered in the CS&IT department (Braveheart) of SELU.

Finally, we present different suggested cloud infrastructures for the implementation abroad the campus and the cost that each option involves.
