Abstract

Abstract
There is a fruitful synergy that engages students deeply with themselves and each other. This approach aligns blogging and mindful reflection to invite students to make meaning as an essential part of a course. Because the blog posts are public to the class the students reinforce each other’s explorations, accelerating the formation of a learning community. The paper cites evidence of student engagement from anonymous end of course evaluations of two quite different classes. In addition, the paper cites the reflections of students in their final graded paper to demonstrate the depth or their engagement with the course materials and the rigor of their analysis.
