We present a platform which combines self-assessment with a sharing system for exercises. It is built upon a database containing problems and their LOM (=Learning Object Metadata). Being built generically, it is profitable for many disciplines. USolv-IT has several interfaces (as well on-line as off-line), amongst which an authoring tool. USolv-IT has a fairly unique strength by its discipline-oriented way to share exercises between teachers and courses, thus offering extra return (as well from a content viewpoint as from an economical one). First we will demonstrate the Student-interface, allowing the construction of course-content based randomly composed tests. We will also demonstrate the Docent-interface allowing e.g. course oriented management of items in the database, exchange of items between authors/teachers. USolv-IT will become available soon with a GPL license. Begin at www.usolvit.be for more information.
