Abstract

We present a Semantic Web application that draws upon an ontology that was created in order to catalog technical assistance resources for targeted audiences of educators. The application has features that use this ontology to disseminate to the learner specific resources in response to their queries, searches, or completed surveys. The application offers a proof of concept for how the Semantic web can support e-learning, especially through responsive dissemination, yet raises many questions about how best to tag resources in anticipation of this, and the concept's actual benefits to learners. The development described here also illustrates the need to consider metadata development as an ongoing, and evolving process.
