A Cost Effectiveness model for Web Supported Academic Instruction: Development, Validation, and Implementation

This paper describes a study of development, validation and implementation of a cost-effectiveness model for web-supported academic learning (WSL). The model is based on empirical data and adapted to the characteristics and needs of traditional higher education institutes that integrate websites in their instruction in various modes. For each component of the model a quantitative-operative measure is being developed in three aspects: university policymakers, faculty, and students. The model will enable to calculate the costs and benefits of web-supported instruction on both the single course level and the campus-wide level. The study is held at the Tel-Aviv University, focusing on web-supported learning (Virtual TAU), as part of the research framework drawn by Nachmias (2002) for the study of a campus-wide web-based academic instruction.
