Abstract

This paper identifies three types of emotional problems students encountered in the 2004 W&M summer study broad program in China. Facing these problems, we design "E-pal project" that aims at raising students' comfort level and helping them emotionally prepared for their foreign country trip by utilizing technology as the emotional support. The E-pal project is consisted of three components: E-pal as emotional support, E-pal as study tool and E-pal as socializing tool. A set of technology enhanced strategies is deigned to fulfill the three functions of the project.
