Abstract
What if you had an opportunity to go on an educational technology-based scavenger hunt? Teaching elementary and college students mapping skills, geography, social studies, geology, physical education, and literacy; well look no further Geocaching is for you. Through the use of GPS technology and Geocaching, teachers have the opportunity to open their classrooms to the entire world, while at the same time teaching them something new and creatively addressing the state standards. This project is a collaborative effort between university faculty, districts/schools teachers, corporate leaders, and community service agencies. Our goal is to work together with national/community parks, schools, and community centers to create caches within their locations that highlight their education value. We are creating a network to expand the impact and we are studying the effects this project has on physical education, mapping skills and social skills.
