Abstract
This study investigated effects of a computer aided instructional program to help eight Taiwanese students in elementary school with multiple handicaps in using a restroom themselves. The study took place over four weeks for students to receive instruction on how to use restroom. Subjects practiced the procedural behavior and then worked on the computer aided instruction step-by-step. Feedback was provided after each step as reinforcement. Fifteen-item behavior evaluation sheets were completed before and after the treatments by researchers' observation. Subjects' behaviors were recorded on a video during the procedure and utilized as qualitative data. The study indicates that the computer aided instruction reinforces their behavior learning at this early stage.
