Abstract
Even though service learning has caught the attention of faculty at universities in recent years, it is far from being implemented in ways that serve both the community and the student. Sometimes a service-learning component of a class focuses on the "service" part while leaving floundering the "learning" part. This paper deals with a service-learning component that pre service elementary major students in a southwest university take as part of their required technology course. Benefits of the service learning component are discussed.
